Venetian plaster, or polished plaster, is becoming the finish of choice in many high-end hotel bars, restaurants and of course beautifully designed homes. Inspired by nature, these mineral plasters are truly connected to the earth and when highly polished, it takes a trained eye to spot the difference between this and real marble. When interior designers use the phrase ‘the rise of surface design’, what they’re really talking about is this product here.

We use a range of products to achieve our truly unique surfaces. That may be Grasello for a high glow finish or Marmorino for a more satin, deep cloud effect. The result is always the same … a bespoke, almost sensuous, unforgettable finish.

Venetian plaster is a wonderfully versatile material that can be applied to wood, brick, natural stone, cement, plaster board or even tiles. It’s also a perfect surface finish for columns and archways. It has a hugely durable finish that will last for many years, which means that although it’s not a cheap solution, its longevity means that it’s cost effective in the long run. It won’t need repainting every year and it won’t scuff, fade or peel in the way that standard paint and wallpaper finishes do.

The result is stunning and better still it’s easy to clean and keep in a pristine condition and even if there is a mark that occurs because of a small accident, then touching up is simplicity itself. It’s also a hard-wearing finish that is perfect for hotels and restaurants.

From a health point of view Venetian plaster works because it is breathable which means that it helps prevent the spread of mildew and the build-up of mould, complimenting high humidity areas. Lastly because lime has a high PH level it has a built-in antibacterial quality which is why so many people chose it for their kitchens.
